SIXTH GENERATION163. Samuel BLYTH was
born about 1802 in Great Wigborough, Essex. He was baptized on 13 Jul 1802 in
Great Wigborough, Essex. He inherited £100 at the age of 21 from his uncle,
William Blyth, on 17 Aug 1820. He was made Executor to the will of his father,
Samuel Blyth, on 5 May 1843. He inherited £70 per annum from his father,
Samuel Blyth, on 20 Oct 1843. The £70 was to be paid from the income of
Sturgeons Farm, Writtle. His father had recently bought the farm from the Trustees
of Mr William Addy (decd) and was occupied by Samuels brother in law, Joseph
Firman Green. Samuel also received the use of land and premises, Sturgeons Farm
in Writtle. Samuel also received an equal share of the residue of his fathers
estate. He was made Executor to the will of his mother, Frances Blyth, on 4
Nov 1845. He was made Executor to the will of his Uncle, John Blyth, on 6 Apr
1854. He signed a Will on 31 Aug 1874 in Chelmsford, Essex. At the time of
writing his will Samuel was living in Writtle. He made 3 changes to his will,
the codicils were dated 4 May 1877, 11 Mar 1880 and 31 Jul 1880. He died on
11 Apr 1881 in Writtle, Essex. His Will was proved on 7 May 1881 in Principal
Registry, London. His estate was valued under £14,000. He was a Farmer
as per 1861 Census in Sturgeons Farm, Writtle, Essex. 1840: Samuel was a farmer
in Virley.
He obtained a marriage license in 1832. Marriage Licence List: 1823
- Samuel Blyth Jnr of Salcot Virley to Kitty Keyes of Layer Marney. He was married
to Kitty KEYES on 24 May 1832 in Layer Marney, Essex. Samuel was from Salcot
& Virley, Kitty was from Layer Marney. Both were single, both signed. Witnesses
were Jeffery Grimwood, Ann Blyth and Mira Ann Keyes.
Kitty KEYES was born in 1806 in Layer Marney, Essex. She died between 11
Mar 1880 and 31 Jul 1880. She inherited several personal items from her husband
on 7 May 1881. Kitty was left her husbands personal goods; the carriages and
horses; £1000 to be paid within 12 months of his death. The furniture and
other household items were to be split equally between Kitty and her son, William.
Samuel instructed that Kitty could live at Sturgeons Farm for the rest of her
life and her son would pay her £50 per year. If she decided to move from
the farm she would receive £150 yearly. The 3rd Codicil in her husbands
will showed that Kitty had died. 1851 Census: Kitty, 46, was living with her
husband and daughter at Witham Road, Cressing.
